Our Scouting program is designed for boys and girls aged between 10 and 14 years old. They meet at the 1st Drysdale Scout Hall every Tuesday during the school term from 6.30pm to 8.30pm.

The Scout Program

A Scout meeting usually begins with a round of games to get the heart pumping. After that, Scouts participate in a varied range of activities designed to help them gain skills in eight key areas:

  • Campcraft
  • Citizenship
  • Air activities
  • Construction
  • Environment
  • Water safety
  • Emergencies
  • Water activities.

Scouts can also choose to pursue their own interests with dozens of special proficiency badges on offer.

Outside of the Scout hall, 1st Drysdale Scouts can keep themselves busy with a remarkable array of fun activities. These range from regular overnight camps (including district and regional camps with Scouts from all over Geelong) to activities such as caving, canoe regatta, rock climbing, cycling and flying. We also plan occasional social activities such as a trip to Timezone in Geelong.

Like Cubs, there are three levels of achievement open to 1st Drysdale Scouts:

  • Pioneer Badge (and Cord)
  • Explorer Badge (and Cord)
  • Adventurer Badge (and Cord).

If a Scout really wants a challenge, they can aim to achieve the Scout Medallion. The Australian Scout Medallion is the highest achievement possible for a Scout. It is awarded when a Scout earns their Adventurer Cord, has completed a Leadership Course and has demonstrated their leadership skills in a Scouting activity.
